Have you ever seen a sea turtle
scratch their shell?
Sea turtle shells are covered by a layer of scutes made of keratin, the same material that makes up the human fingernail. These scutes house nerve endings.
Because of this, they are able to feel itchy, and will scratch their shells using corals or rocks.
